Today on FB, a woman friend was pondering a serious question we face in the dating world. Should a woman be eager to meet up/hang out with a man even after she had been warned that he preys on women and has drug & alcohol issues? Regardless of the source of the warning, would a logical person still want the hook-up?
I heard the pain-of-adventures-unfulfilled in her voice so I had to put my two cents worth in a sea of “no, don’t do it advice.” For whatever it’s worth, sometimes a man like that can be fun in small doses. If you just take it for what it is, an unpredictable mess, you might find a little pleasure in the cracks and learn new things about the male race. But when it’s not fun anymore, the art of fleeing is also something a young women needs to know.

Upstaged by Palin, or Was I?

The universe (or prankster as it shall be called) has always had a way of tripping me out. Sometimes I have to sit back and laugh my ass off at the mischief created. This photo of me with blues great Cedell Davis is just one small example. The lights of the bar reflected off his shoulder to make it look as though I was holding a light saber. After all, I am known locally as the Dottyllama so a light saber seems appropriate. Now the prankster is at it again by creating mischief between me and famous person Sarah Palin. It must be hilarious for the prankster that Palin and Huckabee, someone I write about extensively in my book, could become running mates for President someday. That makes my comical run-ins with the Rev. Huck that I wrote about in my book timely and important Arkansas/American history. Of course, Palin’s got ‘the machine’ at her coming out party but damn, I have the prankster. Being upstaged in the book section of Arkansas’ “Lovely County Citizen” in Eureka Springs Thanksgiving week was just one of the mysterious ways the universe works for me, reminding me that all I need do is get up in the morning, the rest is taken care of. Eureka Springs’ newspaper is an original voice in this sea of echoes so I was a little confused. But lo and behold, a star appeared from the East and it was called New York. If I had gone off to Eureka to play celebrity for the week of Thanksgiving, I wouldn’t have had the door to New York opened for my adventures. Maybe this week the “Mistress of the Misunderstood” will be written about in “The Lovely County Citizen” just like it was supposed to be and Palin’s book and mine will share a shelf together in bookstores everywhere. Of course, Oliver comes before Palin and the Mistress of the Misunderstood went rogue a long time ago…

Blog, blog, blog. That’s all I ever hear. It seems I’m a couple of years late to this party but as I always say, better late than never. I’ve developed my readership for the Mistress from sixteen years of publishing the Arkansas Free Press. Now that I have closed the Freep and written my first book for Dottyllama Publishing, “Mistress of the Misunderstood,” I realized I have no where else to go but the blogosphere. I pondered the reasons why and realized it’s possible that everything I post becomes artificial intelligence for robotic humans everywhere. So here I am, at the portal looking into my future as the writer of AI. How exciting.
